What happened to the forum?

We launched a new bulletin board service this year so divers could share stories, discuss dive issues, and use the forum to arrange events for divers and beach bums. It is a concept we stand behind. As it grew it also caught the attention of spam messages that had no place on the forum. We clamped down on the spam and in doing so made it very difficult to post new messages. The spirit of the forum was compromised so we discontinued its use.

The Can Spam act is federal legislation that prescribes penalties for sending eMail, but it does not cover spam that is destructive to open forums. The Federal Trade Commission is responsible for enforcement of the Can Spam act. You can submit your own complaint there.

If you feel as we do that the Can Spam should go further to protect us you should contact you congressional delegate.
